Please excuse my ignorance, (I’m no sailing expert by any stretch) but to go for a sail, doesn’t the boat used need to have sails?
Dear Mr. Pedant,
According to the dictionary, we might both be right…
sailĀ·ing (slng)
n.
1. The skill required to operate and navigate a vessel; navigation.
2. The sport of operating or riding in a sailboat.
3. Departure or time of departure from a port.
Though whether my “point the boat in the general correct direction” can really be described as navigating…
Hope you stayed clear of the mooses?
(or should that be ‘mice’? – Perhaps your other reader can advise?)

Moose.
Elk
Fair enough.
