It was supposed to be fun…

Saturday night the famous Mango Chunks were playing in Handen, south Stockholm.

Last time we played here it was as part of a bigger event and it was a pretty good success. There was lots of people and we had lots of friends there who cheered along encouragingly.

This time we were the only band on and we brought no back up. Add in to the mix the fact that Barcelona were playing Man U for the Champions League final at the same time we took to the stage and a disaster was looming…

We played the first set at around half past nine to a grand total of 15 people. Didn’t go too badly and at least we got a bit of positive feedback.

The second set was amateur-hour though. We hit the stage at 11:30 and the crowd had grown to about 25, all of who were super drunk. The first song went down well, but after that the crowd weren’t listening and it was just a case of us belting through the songs to get off stage ASAP. The last three songs didn’t go down well, with members of the crowd helpfully coming up to us and suggesting that if we wanted anyone to listen, we should play some covers and oh-oh, that one ! you know that song by Alice Cooper, whats it called again?, you know Bhall, Bhall,Bhall du-du-du-du-du….

Hard to take many positives out of that night. Wonder if U2 had this problem?
