The First Cast

After my first run of the year a few days ago, I managed to head out for my first spot of fishing, with my Dad on Loch Lomond.

It was very nice conditions and we started a drift between the Short and Long points and 5 minutes in I hooked a good over wintered Sea Trout on a Stoats Tail Size 10 double on the tail fly.

A 10 minute fight later and it was in the boat, photographed and back in the water. I reckon it was about 3 and a half, but in good condition would have made 4 pounds.

We hit another 3 decent sea trout between us as we drifted down to Ladies point, but none of them stuck. Great first day of the year and great way to kick off the season!
