Here’s an email I sent to friends in Sweden today because my band is now competing on SVT.se (Sweden’s answer to the BBC) to be Sweden’s next entry to the Eurovision Song contest!
There is a lot of bizarre stories about how this happened, but the long and the short of it is that we went live today at 12:00. Unfortunately, only people from within Sweden can vote, but it’s still a laugh…

My band (the “famous” Mango Chunks) have got involved in a mission to re-store Sweden to one of the Europe’s leading countries.
But it’s not within sport or politics or the field of ideas that we will compete, no it’s something much more important than that, it’s… Melodifestivalen!!!
That’s right, we are competing on SVT.se to be part of Melodifestivalen 2011. It started as a joke but quickly got out of hand and now we are one of 232 competitors each hoping to get enough votes to get through to the main competition next year.
So, we need your vote! In fact, Sweden needs your vote!!! (but mostly we need your vote).

Do you know one of the band members seems to be being attacked by some sort of mid-sized hairy animal going for his neck? I hope he is OK!
Some of the other videos are hilarius! 258 is bizarre and if 128 beats you then you need to consider retiral. And the less said about 233 the best (I thought you were supposed to be able to see the artist?)
And after watching 120 I’m beginning to think the term “Swedish Culture” is a contradiction in terms. And finally the video to 121 is profoundly disappointing and seems to in violation of trades description act.
