As it is a Friday, I really should have been at work, but a phonecall yesterday from Carlo changed all that with an invite to join him fishing up at his summer cotttage.
He picked me up in Norrtälje, about 60Km from Stockholm and after visiting the summer house went down to the nearest lake where within 15 mins Carlo landed this fine pike which was about 70cm long and must have weighed around 9-10lbs…
Carlo was switching his technique between Jigging and Jerk baiting and it was the jig that done the busienss. He fished rings around me and caught 3 pikes and lost another right at the side.
I don’t exactly know what went wrong for me, I caught none and don’t know what to blame. It was either the sunshine, the moonlight, the good times or the boogie. Think I’ll blame it on the sunshine.
After fishing, we went back to the summer house and had a great evening and meal with Carlo’s wife Maria, her parents and the children Elias and Matilda. I ended up watching the The Moomins with the kids while Carlo got packed up and I learned a very interesting new technique for making the perfect bubble…
