Humans

I read a very interesting article on BBC News website (from last week) on how research predicts that humanity will split in two sub-species in the next 100,000 years.

It was suggested that the human species would peak in the year 3000 and then divide into a genetic upper class who would be tall, slim, healthy, attractive, intelligent, and creative compared to a underclass who would have evolved into dim-witted, ugly, squat goblin-like creatures.

Anyone who has ever visited my home town would testify that this process is well under way and in fact may take much less than the 100,000 years expected.

One interesting point from the research was that modern medicine is over-ruling natural selection, preserving genetic defects and resulting in a weakened immune system. Makes you think…

Well, it makes you think until you discover that this research was carried out for the satellite TV channel “Bravo”.

Don’t think I really want to get my science from the same kind of people who invented the show “Topless Darts” (though they should be congratulated for their contribution to the world of indoor sports).
